Sailing Towards Sustainability Summer Camps
Our Sailing Towards Sustainability summer camps for teens are all about adventure, learning, and connecting with the ocean. You’ll spend your days sailing, learning up essential skills, and working as a team—all while discovering a more sustainable way to explore the sea and the beautiful island of Antigua.
This program is specifically designed for teenagers and will stimulate your curiosity, allow you to participate actively and also give you time to chill! This is your chance to navigate, trim sails, and live the rhythm of life on the water. Join us for an unforgettable time where sailing, fun, and sustainability go hand in hand!
CARIBBEAN CHILL VIBES AND NEW FRIENDS
Get ready for the ultimate 12-day adventure in the Caribbean! Think epic sailing, exciting inland explorations, and hanging out with teens just like you. Escape the same-old daily tasks, unplug from your routine, and jump into a world of adventure, challenges, and unforgettable fun.
CRUISING AROUND THE ISLAND OF ANTIGUA
Your sailboat isn’t just a boat—it’s your home, bed, kitchen, hangout spot, and more! Who says learning has to be boring? You’ll sail around the stunning island of Antigua—a small but totally awesome 170-square-mile paradise. Most nights, you’ll drop anchor and fall asleep under the stars, jump in the ocean during lunch breaks, and cook delicious meals onboard.
You’ll explore cool yachting spots like Jolly Harbour Marina, Falmouth Marina, and English Harbour. By the end, you’ll be a navigation pro, rocking sailing apps like Navionics, tying knots with your eyes closed, and feeling so at home on the sailboat, you won’t want to leave.
ISLAND LIFE: DISCOVER, LEARN, AND EXPLORE
We are all in for a nice balanced life – it’s Caribbean after all! We’ll take you to the most beautiful spots, introduce you to inspiring people and organizations, and teach you cool things about the environment, nature, and history.
- Elkhorn Marine Conservancy: will take us into the underwater world with local reef restoration experts. Snorkel around reef nurseries, learn about marine life, and discover how small changes in your daily habits can help protect our oceans.
- Environmental Awareness Group (EAG): This dedicated local organization works to protect Antigua’s wildlife and promote environmental education through interactive experiences. Their Floating Classroom offers an exciting kayak tour into the mangroves, uncovering the hidden secrets of this vital ecosystem and highlighting its crucial role in coastal preservation.
- Adopt a Coastline: This nonprofit turns beach cleanups into a blast! You might even turn trash into art.
GAIN ROYAL YACHTING ASSOCIATION CERTIFICATIONS this is not just a trip—it’s a chance to learn sailing from 0 or level up your sailing game. You’ll get hands-on training in navigation, passage planning, First Aid, or Marine Radio operations.
- RYA Competent Crew Course: Ready to become a key member of a sailing crew? You’ll steer the boat, trim the sails, learn knots, and tackle maneuvers like docking, anchoring, and man overboard drills. From nautical terms to basic navigation, you’ll learn it all—and have a blast doing it.
- RYA First Aid Course: Learn essential first-aid skills designed for life at sea! From CPR to treating hypothermia and sea-related injuries, this course gives you the confidence to handle emergencies while sailing.
- RYA VHF Radio Course: Get the certification for marine radios! This course teaches you how to use a VHF radio — communication with marinas and other boats, using distress signals in case of emergencies and more.
- ADOMS Sea Survival Course: What would you do in an emergency at sea? This one-day class teaches you how to stay safe, use life rafts, signal for help, and keep calm while waiting for rescue. It’s hands-on, practical, and boosts your confidence on the water.
BONUS COURSE (OPTIONAL AFTER THE CAMP, BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT!):
- RYA Powerboat Level 2: This two-day course provides hands-on training in powerboat handling and safety. Learn techniques for docking, anchoring, planing-speed maneuvers, collision avoidance, docking, and man overboard recovery drills.
