At Second Star Sailing School we have created a specialized package for our local Antigua and Barbuda fisherfolks and charter professionals. We know how important your type of work is and how crucial it is to stay safe on the water. That’s why we’ve put together a package of courses to help you get the right licenses and learn about staying safe at sea.

The obtained RYA and ADOMS certification will ensure you comply with regulations and is a great set for taking your career to a next, more professional level.

These courses are not just about obtaining licenses; they’re about empowering you with the expertise and confidence needed to navigate safely, making sure you know how to be even safer and more confident while you’re out doing your job.

Here’s what included in the package:

  1. RYA VHF DSC Course: Learn how to use marine radios properly. This skill is important for good communication and safety while fishing.

Duration: 1 day classroom  (with in-class exam at the end)

  1. RYA First Aid Course: Get trained in first aid specifically for situations you might face while out fishing. Being prepared for emergencies is crucial on the water!

Duration: 1 day classroom

  1. Boatmaster Grade 3 Course – Licensed by ADOMS: This certification proves that you are a capable captain of a motorboat and is approved by the local Antigua & Barbuda government.

Duration: 2 days classroom, 2 days practical, 1 day exam

Price: special introductory price 999$ USD per person. A payment plan is available: pay a 30% deposit before the course, and the remaining balance within the next three months.

Prerequisites:

  • 18 years of age
  • 3 months of experience on a vessel.

Should you not have the necessary experience, you have the option to take our 5-day RYA Competent Crew course added to the package at a 50% discount which will cover the 3 months of experience requirement.
