Atlantic Crossing

Atlantic Crossing 2024: from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, aka East to West

There are three sailboat delivery legs for this crossing and the Atlantic Crossing itself. You may choose to participate in one delivery leg, several delivery legs or get a full experience from preparation to the final docking!

The Atlantic Crossing and the delivery passages are an exciting and unique experience. They will involve a period of preparation prior to the crossing during which we will ready the boat for the crossing, have some sail training together, plan the provisioning and learn about safety while building our team spirit before heading out.

  • LEG 1: October 20th – 25th: Pisa – Palma de Mallorca
  • LEG 2: October 27th – November 1st: Palma de Mallorca – La Linea (Spain, Bay of Gibraltar)
  • LEG 3: November 3rd – 10th: La Linea – Las Palmas (Gran Canaria)
  • ATLANTIC CROSSING: November 17th – December 8th (roughly): Las Palmas – Jolly Harbour (Antigua and Barbuda)

LEG 1: PISA-PALMA DE MALLORCA, October 20-25th

Joining location: October 14th in Marina di Pisa, Tuscany, Italy. At our school office in Via Francesco Barbolani, 18, 56128 Marina di Pisa, Italy.

From October 14th to 18th, we’ll prepare the boat for delivery passages and the crossing, cover safety and boat systems, train with the crew in short sailing sessions, and get to know each other. Participants must arrange their own accommodation on shore, as the boat will be under preparation and unavailable for staying on. We plan to move on the boat on October 19th, and departure on October 20th, if the weather is favourable.

There is no fixed route, and the passage and planning will be based on weather forecasts and our crew, therefore there is no exact arrival time, but we are planning to be in Mallorca at Puerto de Palma de Mallorca for crew rest/refuel/reprovision on October 25th.

LEG 2: PALMA DE MALLORCA–LA LINEA (SPAIN, BAY OF GIBRALTAR) October 27th – November 1st

Joining location: October 26th in Puerto de Palma de Mallorca.

Again there is no fixed route, and the passage and planning will be based on weather forecasts and our crew, therefore there is no exact arrival time, but we are planning to be in La Linea Alcaidesa marina for crew rest/refuel/reprovision on November 1st.

LEG 3: LA LINEA-LAS PALMAS (GRAN CANARIA) November 3-10th

Joining location: November 2nd in La Linea Alcaidesa Marina, Spain.

Again there is no fixed route, and the passage and planning will be based on weather forecasts, tidal passage in the straight of Gibraltar, and our crew, therefore there is no exact arrival time, but we are planning to be in Las Palmas for the end of the leg on November 10th.

ATLANTIC CROSSING: November 17th – December 8th (roughly): Las Palmas – Jolly Harbour (Antigua and Barbuda)

Joining location: November 12th in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.

From November 12th to 16th, we’ll prepare the boat for the crossing, cover safety and boat systems, do provisioning, and get to know each other. Participants must arrange their own accommodation on shore, as the boat will be under preparation and unavailable for staying on. We plan our departure on November 17th, if the weather is favourable.
