Under the guidance of an RYA Coach/Assessor, you will learn how to deliver clear and effective briefings, manage practical exercises safely, and give constructive feedback to students. Each day combines classroom sessions with time afloat, where you’ll practice teaching techniques and build confidence in presenting skills in a way that is both professional and accessible.
The course also includes a moderation day to ensure consistent standards across all instructors. Feedback is continuous throughout, and you will leave with a personal action plan to support your ongoing development as an instructor.
On successful completion, you will be awarded the RYA Cruising Instructor endorsement, allowing you to teach Competent Crew and Day Skipper practical courses at recognised training centres under the supervision of a Chief Instructor. This qualification opens the door to a rewarding career in sail training and is widely respected across the industry.
