Greetings to all aspiring maritime enthusiasts in Antigua! I am excited to share with you my transformative journey with the Women at the Helm Internship Program. Through this program, I discovered a world of opportunities and ignited my passion for the maritime industry.
The program’s emphasis on hands-on experience was invaluable. From base management to sailing techniques and boat maintenance, I gained insights and skills that shaped my path within the industry. The opportunity to earn certifications further bolstered my confidence and credibility, laying a solid foundation for my career aspirations.
What struck me most was the unwavering support and guidance provided by the Second Star Sailing team. During a challenging period in my personal life, their understanding and compassion served as pillars of strength, turning colleagues into a supportive family.
But it wasn’t just about acquiring skills; it was about embracing opportunities. Through the program, I had the privilege of participating in prestigious events like the Antigua Classics Regatta and Antigua Sailing Week, experiences that not only enriched my knowledge but also ignited my passion for sailing.
